Vocaa ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Vocaa mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data.

1. Information We Collect

• Google account information (name, email, profile photo) when you sign in
• Language preferences and skill level
• Session metadata (duration, topics discussed)
• Voice audio recordings — only for pronunciation feedback analysis, deleted after processing
• Usage data and app activity
• Device information and push notification tokens

2. Audio Recording Policy

Vocaa records short voice samples (maximum 15 seconds) solely for pronunciation feedback. Audio is:

• Processed by AI (OpenAI Whisper) for transcription
• Temporarily stored in Cloudflare R2
• Automatically deleted after feedback is generated
• Never shared with third parties for any other purpose
• Never used for live call recording — voice calls are peer-to-peer and not recorded

3. How We Use Your Information

• To match you with practice partners
• To track your learning streaks and progress
• To send practice reminders via push notifications
• To provide AI pronunciation feedback
• To improve our service

4. Data Retention

• Audio recordings: deleted immediately after feedback processing
• Session data: retained for 90 days
• Account data: retained until you delete your account
• You can request deletion at any time

5. Your GDPR Rights

If you are in the EU, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Data portability
• Object to processing

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Google (authentication)
• LiveKit (voice call infrastructure — peer-to-peer, not recorded)
• OpenAI Whisper (pronunciation feedback only)
• Cloudflare R2 (temporary audio storage)
• Supabase (database hosting)

7. Age Policy

Vocaa is a language learning platform open to all ages. Users under 13 must have parental consent. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental permission.
